What PSI Should Be on ebike Front Shocks-(Guide with PICs)

The front shocks in the electric bike are now present in most electric bikes because they are necessary to increase the safety rate while

riding and also increase the level of comfort.

One of the most important things about frontal shocks is the level of air inside it, because it can make you not feel its presence at all or, on the contrary, appreciate how important it is to you.

Therefore, in this post, we will explain What PSI Should Be on ebike Front Shocks, how to put the air inside, and how to get the excess air out.

What PSI Should Be on ebike Front Shocks?

Recommended SAG level for Front Shocks

There are different types of frontal shocks, so each type of frontal shock has different recommendations

But as a general rule, your sag should be somewhere between 30 to 35 percent.

Noting that the above recommendations are for electric bikes, as regular bikes are about 25 to 30

But can this percentage be converted into numbers, or more precisely, what is the recommended PSI?

In fact, yes, we can specify the recommended PSI for electric bikes, since the weight of electric bikes is heavier than regular bikes, which requires an increase of about 10 PSI

Table Explain The Recommended Front Shocks PSI for Electric bikes.

Rider WeightPSI
< 120 lb   (< 55KG)<55 PSI
120 lb to 140 lb  (55 KG-63KG)55 -65 PSI
140 lb to 160 lb  (63 KG-72KG)65-75 PSI
160 lb to 180 lb  (72 KG-81KG)75-85 PSI
180 lb to 200 lb  (81 KG-90KG)85-95 PSI
200 lb to 220 lb  (90 KG-99KG)95 -105 PSI
>220 lb  (>99 KG)105+ PSI

Note: The PSI should not exceed 148 in any case in order to keep the front shocks in good condition.

How to inflate your ebike Front Shocks?

After we have explained the recommended PSI for electric bikes, in this part of the post we will explain how to put air into the front shocks.

Note: The air pump for the tire is not useful in putting air into the front shocks because it is low pressure at high volume pumps.

Front shocks need a high-pressure pump at low volume.

For this, you should buy a shocks pump and its price, in general, is not expensive, about (15 to 30 dollars, depending on the quality of the materials)

Step By Step for inflating the front Shocks.

1- Unscrew the air cap using your hand.

2- Using your hand screw the shock inflator into the air plug until it pops up to the current air level

3- Use your hand and pump the air into the front shocks till you reach the recommended PSI for your weight.

4- Lower the Marker on the Front shocks to a very low level.

6-Put the air cap back on the front shocks.

7- Sit on the electric Bike and hold the handlebar Then bend your body forward to test if the front shocks reach the recommended sag percentage or not.

How do you get the air out of front shocks?

As a general rule, in order to get the air out of the front forks, the shocks pump must be connected to the front shocks, and then press and hold the air release button in the shocks pump.

air release button in the shocks pump.

Conclusion.

As a general rule, the recommended PSI for front shocks on electric bikes ranges from 55 PSI to 148 PSI, depending on the cyclist’s weight, and should not exceed the maximum 148 PSI.
